Tips for Casino Beginners

You have learned the basics of the Hold'em poker game, you downloaded the free software, you have exercised via the apprenticeship program and now you are ready to embark on the great adventure of the poker game. Here are some tips that should help especially if you want to start playing for real money in cash games or tournaments. The reaction of the players is different when you play with dummy chips or when you play with real money.

Be patient.

Build your game depending on your position in relation to the button and play cleanly and wisely.

Do not hold a grudge against one or another opponent. Do not try to take revenge in the next few coups because you are likely to lose even more.

Do not rush, especially if you have a seemingly unbeatable hand.

Whether playing at a casino table or on the internet, you should consider your opponents’ reactions (patience, aggressiveness, bluff, etc.).

Most importantly, have fun!

The bluff in poker

"The art of poker (whether at an offline table or on the internet) lies in the player's ability to bluff or to make their opponent believe that they have an upper hand, thus discouraging them to bet or raise."
Bluffing is decisive in the poker game. However, it must be used wisely and knowingly.
Warning: you should not bluff regularly because your opponents will know and read you very quickly. A bluff takes practice. A bluffer is only successful after a long training period.

Here is what you should consider prior to a bluff:
Your position at the table;

Observing the other players;

The strength of the pot (there is no point in bluffing if the pot contains only a few cents);

The evolution of the bets (if a player bets large sums of money, they probably have a good hand);

Your own game (you are not bluffing if you have a winning hand);

The sensitivity of the moment.
How do you know if you are a good bluffer? This is simple. You are a good bluffer if your bluffs are successful more than half of the time. You can easily simulate bluffs and analyze all possible reactions with the many free tutorials available on the internet.
The categories of players
The conservative player: This is a wise poker player who has a regular behavior and does not give up.

The smug: This is a poker player who knows they are beaten, yet they want to see the cards.

The bluffer: This is an aggressive poker player who usually (but not always) bluffs for no reason.

The aggressive player: This is a poker player who plays aggressively to very aggressively.

The versatile player: This is a poker player who manifests all the behaviors described above. Therefore, they are unpredictable. Most of the great champions are versatile players.
How to choose a table
The next step after using the training room to familiarize yourself with the functions of the game and its development is to learn how to choose a table. Lobby window allow you to sit at a table to test it. Here are the steps you need to take:
Play for fun

Choose Thurs (Hold'em)

Choose the type of limit (Limit, Pot Limit, No Limit)

Choose the bid (from pennies to dollars)

Choose the table size (2, 6 or 10 players)

Optional: Check the details of the table (blinds, minimum limit, etc.)

Go to the table you have selected

The presence of other players at the table allows you to use a technique that does not work against a video poker machine: the bluff. This technique allows you to bet large sums of money in an attempt to scare your opponents, who may give up their hand even if it is better than yours.

These buttons indicate the type of table you can choose. For example, you can select a Practice Play table. You can play either for real money or for play money. Real poker tables are colored red while practice tables are colored blue.

Choose your game

Then you have to select the type of game you want to play. The game tabs at the top of the menu indicate the type of table you can choose. For example, you can choose a Hold'em table. As you can imagine, you can only play Texas Hold'em at this table. You now have to choose an approach. For example, you can choose the traditional approach, which means that you look through the list of available tables to find one that meets your needs and an open seat. The other alternative is to use the search bar to find a seat at the desired table quickly. Once you find it, you can sit down and start playing.
